ENTERING EXAMS WITH DYSLEXIA

Access arrangements can be put in place ahead of GCSEs and A levels for pupils who have difficulties with particular aspects of learning, and demonstrate reading difficulties, poor spelling, handwriting problems or other learning difficulties such as slow processing speed.  The school can put these arrangements into place for you but they may not have the facilities to do the assessment itself, and you may need to arrange this yourself with the cooperation of the special educational needs coordinator at school.

Once the school have agreed that this process can be initiated, I will carry out some tests with the candidate and if performance is shown to be lower than a specific cut off, adjustments can be made that allow the pupil to perform at their best, such as extra time in exams or the use of a laptop.

For GCSEs, these arrangements need to be in place before the exams but no earlier than Year Nine.

If you are a school SENCo, please get in touch if you need me to visit and carry out a set of Access Arrangements Assessments.
